Evening there everyone - just a short post today as I’m on my way out as I type this.
As anyone who has been following us on this website knows, I’m a keen subscriber to a techie podcast called Geekbrief.tv (the link to which is down there on the right hand side). This is fine podcast with a fine presenter (but no need to worry there CyberFred! ) that keeps me up-to-date with the latest gadget info in the world.
A week or so ago the podcast was about some music tech which - for a mere drummer - was something quite fantastic and bordering on black magic… Guitarists and guitar purists will probably scoff and mumble but I was thinking - hey, perhaps we could become ‘real’ musicians with this kind of kit!
Take a ganders and see what you think…

Hello, Well met and happy 2009! Happy Chinese new year too…
Isn’t it amazing how time flies? The first month of the year is basically gone already, and what, I hear you ask, has been done with it? Well I wish I could remember. The old work life has been busy. Homelife too has been thankfully full and busy. As for music….well I have listened to quite a lot. Playing properly? Practicing? Nah…. not me guvnor.
But I think I will. I have decided to become a bit more serious about the music side of things. Properly learn so to speak. The stuff we have done up until now has been fun but not satisfying. So it is time to man up and learn the tunes. Going back to the roots….. I am starting with the blues. Yup you heard it here first.
So for now… hope you are all well and are doing ok.
Hope to post more soon and use the site the way it was intended. …for music…

What of MrNibbs? What will 2009 bring for them? Well hopefully lots of good things such as starting up the practises again, better music (possibly), recorded music (steady on). I for one am itchin’ to get back into things with or without a shiney new drum kit…
Speaking of new, we now have a new link to kick of the new year - hurrah! Those of you with keen eyes will have noticed a link called ‘Oldknow Arms’ which links to a fledgling site dedicated to the Great British pub! Who knows, we might find a location for our first ever gig (now I am dreaming!) on there.

Hey folks, your faithful web monkey here to let you know I’ve upgraded you to the newest version of Wordpress. Version 2.7 was just released and I’ve done all the necessary upgrades in the background. Readers of the site won’t see much difference but rest assured the back stage area is new and improved.
I couldn’t get 4000 brown M&M’s but I did refill the Skittles, hopefully this will abait El Pablo’s threats not to go on stage

Great news everybody! Society has broken through another barrier and reached new pinnacles of achievement!
Podo and El Pablo have released a podcast! It is called Fancy A Brew? but panic not the birth of a side project does not signify a parting of the ways for the mighty MrNibbs, merely the culmination of a long-standing dream.
The podcast has very little to do with the band and only a passing relevance to tea.
Right then, Enough of the misery and strangeness. (From me anyway) I am wanting to play and write more tunes. So as I have a limited imagination, I would like to put out the call. What should I write a tune about?
Let me enlighten you as to my style. I have a really odd way about me. I like madness. I have so far written tunes about tea, toast and potatoes. (See how bad it can get?). They say write what you know. I know far too much to write about that. Love songs are so twentieth century. But maybe they could make a comeback? But for this I would require some good lovin’ from a beauty of wonderousness. ( Comments will gratefully be accepted from any wannabe groupies) Or the loss of one such. Such is the way of the blues. As I haven’t been evicted, had my dog shot, had a woman done me wrong recently I cannot write about this. Although the other band members might like to write tunes about this. Feel free.
So give me a title. Go on! What is the worst that can happen?
The song will be nothing like you expect. I mean by this it will be a wierd little comedy dirge. But I need inspirado. So give me titles. I will choose one and write a tune. I will put the lyrics on here and who knows I might even record it and put it on here.
Name my tune.
No ideas too wierd. (Is that enough of a challenge?)
Oh and for those who don’t know how. Click on the comments thing. Just underneath this in red. Give us your email address. (Hopefully genuine) Then type your message. When we get them and confirm them they will appear as comments. (I mean there has to be some sort of filter otherwise it would be full of adverts for those little blue pills)
This is just a small apology to anyone who has tried to access our gallery in the past couple of days.
As most people who visit our site (yes we do get them!) were unaware that if they clicked on the image the slideshow paused and showed the witty comment that went with the picture, I thought I would add a little note to explain.
A little note - one sentence long - what harm could it do?
Well it appears that I managed to get rid of the pictures completely!! Doh!
I have tried to get them back but don’t understand the RSS ‘widget’, and following the Flickr guidelines just gives one photo & a link to the rest…
So I’m afraid until it is back up & running (I suspect this is gonna mean a lot of bananas!) you’ll just have to make do with just the one.
Well I had to really didn’t I? Especially seeing as El Pablo got his ‘instrument’ out and everything!
That said I suspect that title has been also used but hey its not the first or last suspect thing on this site…
Wow! The band could be getting back together hey? Exciting isn’t it?!
Well yes I suppose it is really. By the sounds of it none of us has stopped thinking about playing so it was only natural (bit like Pablo’s ‘hair’!), although that said, I suspect (there’s another one…) that boredom perhaps has put his/her/its grubby mitts in it there somewhere. Not that I’m saying that’s a bad thing, but playing in a band should be about the music and not relieving (or re-living) boredom. I could be wrong, and often am, even if I don’t admit it!
So Pablo’s been out in the wilderness getting his ‘instrument’ out, Podo’s been putting his heart and soul (quite literally by the sound of it) into writing new tunes - what about me then?
Well the main thing has been the changing of jobs - spreading the word of MrNibbs at the same time - to work for a company closer to my roots and fellow band members. That said I won’t be moving back anytime soon!
Its been a hectic 3 weeks - having a lot to take in - but at the same time I now find myself having more time to stop and think about other things other than work, and as a consequence listening to more music and keeping the dream alive. I also now get to see Jimbo & see his lovely lady again - who might I add had her Birthday last week, Happy Birthday! - so will have an avenue for some ‘open and honest’ critisism/praise for anything we record before we put it on the site.
Well its nice and sunny outside so I think I shall go for a walk rather than type in a small room (sorry Podo), but lets hope this is the (re)start of something beautiful…

Yeah its been an odd few weeks for me. Massively out of sorts, out of touch and out of sight, in equal and opposite quantities. I feel like I haven’t seen anyone in ages. However thinking back I have seen lots of people in the past few weeks but either not for long enough or not recently enough for my mind to focus on. I mean every day 20 new people greet me at work but it’s just not the same.
Yeah so misery, happiness, apathy, (confusingly amusingly lamentingly) stupidity have led me to a position to practice, play and write some tunes. All of which appear to be dirges that will never see the light of day. Although they may help in the future. The world may one day be attacked by a force (something like the blob) that has but one weakness. The hatred and fear of torrid songs. When the world calls I will be ready. Like an out of date superhero/Supervillian from the 1930’s. Something like Nic-O-teen. (Remember kids-A non existant person wearing a blue skin tight suit with red boots says ‘Smoking is bad’)
The LHC (google it if you don’t know-other search engines are available…..but are rubbish) was fired up last week and in about 33 days may give us clues as to the nature of existence in the Universe. Maybe it will be like the other rubbish research that’s done Like ‘Scientists find that biscuits are nice with tea’ or ‘Being electrocuted is bad-Scientists proved today’. Maybe I am just cynical. No surely not you say………
But one interesting thing that was mentioned, was that it may be able to prove that Gravity isn’t just a theory. Intelligent design-o-philes tend to suggest that evolution is ‘Just a theory’ and an eminent scientist says.. ‘Well so is gravity’, and time, etc etc. Well maybe it is time the gloves came off. Prove things. Wouldn’t that be ace? I think it would. Maybe they could prove that I am not madly rambling on again.
Unlikely.
But ponder this. If the King of France exists…..(Even in a virtual universe like the mind), does he have red hair?
